Fury Add Local Player

The Prince George Fury are looking to a Prince George player to help them earn their first ever victory. With the team getting off to an 0-4 start the Fury have added Prince George resident Tyler Wood to the roster.

The 23-year Duchess Park graduate has joined the team after moving back home from Victoria. Wood played one season of college soccer at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops. The past couple of years he has been playing division one men’s soccer in Victoria with Lake Hill. Wood came out to a few of the Fury’s practices at Christmas time and is excited about playing for the city’s first professional sports team.

“I am more than happy to play for my home town team”, Wood said. “At the same time I get to realize a dream of playing pro soccer”.

Fury Head Coach Sipho Sibiya thinks Wood can help the team up front. “Tyler is a big body and can bring us some extra offence.” Sibiya also noted it is time to make some moves. “We evaluated the team after 4 games and have realized we have to make some changes. We have the chance to do so with Tyler, but also get to do it with some local talent”.

The Fury now has a roster of 24 players and will look to get that elusive first victory next weekend when they play the Wenatchee Fire on January 30th at CN Centre.  Game times are 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and tickets are available at Ticketmaster.
