Winnipeg Preview

All good things must finally come to an end, and that's the case this weekend as the Fury head to the far east to wrap up the inaugural season. The team will be looking for two wins against a team below them in the standings, and solidify their place in the CMISL. Here are some news and notes from the pending road trip:

  • Play-by-play commentator Alex Rawnsley will be 'tweeting' all throughout the road trip, with all the updates available here on the site, as well as on the Fury's Official Facebook Group. You can follow the Fury by going to http://www.twitter.com/pgfury
  • David Mocilac is confirmed to start in net for both games, as he is the only goaltender going on the trip. This was confirmed by Jeff Rakochy during the 2nd game vs Edmonton on Sunday. It will be David's first starts of the season after recovering from a concussion after taking a Bruno Rodrigues shot off the face in training, prior to the season.
  • The team will drive to Calgary Friday morning and then travel by air to Winnipeg from there.
  • John Mehrassa will retain his spot behind the bench, as Sipho Sibiya, Brad Stewart are unavailable and Sonny Pewar has been told his services were "no longer required". It is expected a formal announcement about the coaching situation will be made at the end of the season.
  • Several players were trialed in the last home game of the season, and it's not know yet if they will make the road trip.
  • Winnipeg currently sit last in the CMISL, and 2 wins against Prince George will only draw them level with the Fury, although Winnipeg have games in hand after the Fury wrap their season.
  • Jeff Rakochy has said he may make the road trip with the team, and may be joining Alex Rawnsley in the commentary booth in Winnipeg as a colour commentator.
